Daily Post: 9/3/10

Am Lit: Watched clips of Mark Twain documentary by Ken Burns to establish historical context for The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The film was paused at moments to stress important facts and influences on Twain's writing. Assignment: Documentary Facts, Opinions, and Comments (Turned in at the conclusion of class). If you were not present, please search the Internet for 10 facts, opinions, and comments that you find interesting. Bring the completed work to class on Tuesday.

Moc: We began working to understand organization in writing. After mapping out the organization of an essary: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion, we worked to understand the paragraph - the building block of a larger piece of writing. Using the Topic Sentence Packet, students completed the first four pages.

English 1: Today the Independent Book Project was introduced. Ten minutes was used to look through the library for a book. While that was probably not enough time for everyone to get a book, book titles were viewed to be considered. Nouns and Pronouns were discussed using a diagram on the white board. For homework, students should complete the Nouns and Pronouns worksheet for Tuesday.
