Am Lit: Read Of Mice and Men  - Act 1.1.

MOC: Students created a blog to complete daily blog assignments. Vocab #9 tomorrow!

English 1/Boys: Predicate Nominatives/Adjectives and Direct/Indirect Objects. Tomorrow - Go over Plot Diagram and Lab Day.

Daily Log: 10/14

Am Lit: Complete Blog Entry #4 and read chapters 21-23. Finish for Monday.

MoC: Students practiced vocabulary, read cause and effect essays, and began brainstorming topics.

English 1: Students worked on their quarterly book projects due October 26th.

Boys: Read English 1.

Am Lit: Completed passage analysis (found on wiki). Read chapters 18-20.

MoC: Continued to work on introductions. Cause and Effect essay was briefly introduced.

English 1: The Lottery and discussion questions.

Boys: See English 1.

Daily Log: 10/8

Am Lit: Today students identified passages of importance in chapters 9-10 and explained the passages' significances to their peers. Read chapter 11-13 over the weekend.

MoC: We completed a vocabulary quiz and continued to build on introductions and thesis statements. Finish thesis statement examples for Monday.

English 1: We completed a verb phrase quiz, compared Walter Mitty to Snoopy, and read There Will Come Soft Rains. Review verb phrases this weekend for the quiz retake. Chapter 12 in the yellow book will help you.

Boys: We completed a verb phrase quiz and began discussion on Walter Mitty. Study for the verb phrase quiz retake. We will finish Walter Mitty on Monday.

Daily Log: 10/5

Am Lit: Today we discussed chapters 5-6. Consider Holden's responses to the following comments or events: snowball, Saturday steaks, Allie's glove, Allie's death, athletes, and Stradlater's fight.

Read chapters 7-8  and bring in 5 slang terms for tomorrow and complete the blog entry: Allie's Glove for Friday.


MOC: Today we wrote using participial phrases using Mr. Bean as our subject.

English 1: Began discussing The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, finished recording theme notes, and completed the verb phrase worksheet.

Boys: Finished recording theme notes and corrected the verb phrase worksheet.

Boys: We went over The Scarlet Ibis and verb phrases.

Am Lit: Read Chapter 5-6 for Wednesday. Tomorrow Juniors will be having a PEP Talk from Mrs. Stielow.

MoC: Complete the participial phrase paragraph (The Peanuts Comic Strip) and Juniors will be having a PEP Talk from Mrs. Stielow.

English 1: Today we went over notes for short story elements. We are nearing the end of the notes for this unit. No homework.
