English 1: SRI Testing

MOC: "My Name" Essay rubric, organizatoin, and writing time. VOCAB QUIZ tomorrow!

Am Lit: "Self-Reliance" passages and group discussion. The passages are due with the final Transcendentalist assessment. For MONDAY - read your section of Walden. If you do not trust your group members to read their selections thoroughly or are interested in reading more of Walden, here is a website with the Walden text:  http://thoreau.eserver.org/walden00.html.

The selections that different peers are reading are "Solitude", "Visitors", "Where I Lived and What I Lived for", and "Economy".

Am Lit: Get Transcentalism notes from a peer. Read "Nature" by Ralph Waldo Emerson and complete double entry diary for tomorrow.

Acc English 1: Shakespeare's Biography - Questions-in-the-Margin

1. Read Sandra Cisneros "My Name" (an excerpt from House on Mango Street).

2. Answer reflective questions about your name. Each question needs to be well thought out and creatively answered.

"I Remember" Exercise - 30 pts

Focus:
         1. Implement strong word choice
         2. Create a vivid, descriptive image
         3. Use FOUR appositives - Underline them in your writing.
         4. Use a variety of sentence constructions.

Read "I Remember"
Create a 3/4 to 1 page essay modeled after the "I Remember" example that we read together. Focus on the above material to be inserted into your writing.  

Due Friday at the end of class and submitted to GOOGLE DOCS.
